MTA is considered as the number one medical transportation provider by a public transit agency. In September 2016, the MTA provided 160 rides on the Rides to Wellness service; ridership in 2020 is projected at 13,000-15,000 rides. As a result, we have been received numerous grant awards, including the recent announcement of the largest mobility grant given in the country. The MTA has received numerous local, state and national awards for innovation.
MTA Flint continues to innovate and provide leading national transportation initiatives that serve as the foundation for the rest of America. This is all due to MTA Flint's unending focus on changing with the needs of all riders, whether through on demand medical transportation or rides to connect individuals to work. Voting Yes for the MTA Replacement Millage is a vote for the future of Genesee County and the future of transportation.
• The MTA has converted 95% of the diesel fleet to alternative fuel vehicles; reducing the annual use of diesel from 1.3 million gallons to less than 200,000 gallons today. During the next three years the MTA will complete the elimination of diesel vehicles and add both CNG and Hydrogen vehicles.
• The MTA is considered a leader in the Midwest with one of the
most diverse alternative fuel fleets, including Propane, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Hydrogen. Currently the MTA sells both CNG and Hydrogen fuel.
• The MTA has developed user apps that allow for passengers to do their own online scheduling. Future plans provide for additional apps to improve the experience and response times
• Currently the MTA is developing a new Flex Route service that will allow for greater services to those working at locations outside current bus services. In addition, an app will allow for an on-demand response to passenger needs.
